Common questions

What is OnlineSensor?

OnlineSensor is a crowdfunding platform, which focuses on fund-raising for causes online. With an immense focus on Social Media integration and inherent virality, OnlineSensor envisions bringing together projects and social campaigns and helping individuals, organisations and NGOs raise funds for their projects.

What can I raise money for?

Most people use OnlineSensor to raise money for themselves, a friend or loved one during life's important moments. This includes things like medical expenses, education costs, volunteer programs, youth sports, funerals & memorials, animals & pets.

What is crowdfunding and how does it work?

Crowdfunding is the coming together of individuals to contribute small amounts of money and invite their networks to do the same in order to support efforts initiated by people or organisations. Crowdfunding is all about putting up a project you believe in and want to raise money for and then riding these networks to get your friends, families, acquaintances and enthusiasts to put in small amounts of money. The idea of crowdfunding is all about a large number of people putting in small amounts to make a substantial amount for a project!

Does it cost anything?

While it's free to create and share your online fundraising campaign, OnlineSensor will deduct a 10% fee from each donation that you receive. A small processing fee of about 5% will also be deducted from each donation. Please see Pricing & Fees for more info.

Do my donors get charged?

No, never. Donors are charged only the amount they choose to donate to you and that's it.

Are there any time limits?

Nope. With OnlineSensor there are no deadlines or time-limits. Your campaign will remain live until you choose to stop donations or remove the campaign altogether. Most users leave their campaigns live indefinitely as a lasting memory of all the wonderful comments and support they received. Note: If you would like to set a deadline, simply choose our 'All-or-Nothing' campaign option during Campaign Creation time.

What if I don't reach my goal?

No problem. With OnlineSensor, you keep each and every donation you receive. Reaching your goal is not required. Note: Users interested in an 'All-or-Nothing' campaign may choose this option during campaign creation time.

When is my contribution eligible for refund?

If you are contributing to a campaign that has failed to reach its target funding goal under the All or Nothing funding model, then your contribution is eligible for refund.

My contribution is eligible for refund. When can I get it back?

Any contribution eligible for refund will be returned to the same account from where your transaction originated within 45 days of the close of the Project.

Will there be any deduction or will I get back the entire contribution that I made?

You get back your 100% donations. Transaction fees do not apply for refunded contributions.

Are contributions to projects under the flexible funding model eligible for refunds?

No. Contributions to any project under the Flexible Funding model are not eligible for refunds.

Can donors in other countries donate to my campaign?

Yes, your OnlineSensor campaign is able to accept donations from around the world.

What about taxes and stuff?

Unfortunately, we're unable to provide specific tax advice since everyone's situation is different. While this is by no means a guarantee, most donations on OnlineSensor are simply considered to be 'personal gifts' which are not taxed as income in many countries. Additionally, only donations made to a legally registered non-profit or charity may be considered eligible for donors to claim as a tax deduction. Again, every situation is different so please consult with a tax professional in your area.

Why does OnlineSensor have to charge 10%?

OnlineSensor has major operating expenses like any popular internet service including technology, infrastructure, payroll & benefits for our dedicated team of employees. We have purposely created a business model that allows users to sign-up and launch their campaign for free.

Do I have to be a non-profit to use this?
